The Avis BX72054 kit represents the Messerschmitt M-23A, a light sport and touring aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the early 1930s. The aircraft was developed as part of a series of lightweight sport planes created by Bayerische Flugzeugwerke and was intended for recreational flying, pilot training, and air racing.

The M-23 featured a lightweight construction with a high-wing configuration and enclosed cockpit. Its good performance and relatively simple design made it popular among sport pilots and aviation clubs during the interwar period.

About the Messerschmitt M-23

The Messerschmitt M-23 was a light sport aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt at the turn of the 1930s. It was developed as part of a series of lightweight aircraft produced by Bayerische Flugzeugwerke for sport flying and air competitions.

The aircraft featured a wooden structure with a high-wing layout and enclosed cockpit. Thanks to its good flight characteristics and low weight, it became popular among sport pilots and flying clubs. Variants of the M-23 successfully participated in several aviation competitions of the period.

Depending on the variant, the aircraft was powered by different piston engines producing roughly 60–100 horsepower. The type was mainly used in Germany during the interwar period.
