Description

Copper State Models Photo Etch Set for the Mgebrov-R armoured car in 1:35 scale

Copper State Models A35072 is a photo-etched detail set matched to the Copper State Models Mgebrov-R armoured car kit in 1:35 scale. The thin metal parts raise the level of detail where injection moulding forces overly thick cross-sections.

The set is a natural complement to the base kit for modellers who want sharper, more realistic detail on the vehicle's small fittings and elements.

What's in the box:

  • A photo-etched metal fret for the Mgebrov-R armoured car

  • Catalogue number: A35072
  • Manufacturer: Copper State Models
  • Dedicated kit: Copper State Models Mgebrov-R armoured car (CSM35012)

Photo-etched accessories - thin, delicate detailing parts

Photo-etched parts are very thin metal elements chemically etched from a fret, reproducing details with a plate thickness unobtainable in injection moulding - small fittings, handles, grilles and flat elements. They give the model a sharper, more realistic look in key areas.

Photo-etched parts are cut from the fret with a hobby knife on a hard surface, formed with a bending tool or a straight edge, and attached with cyanoacrylate or UV glue. Precise modelling tweezers make working with photo-etched parts easier. Degreasing the surface before painting improves paint adhesion.

About the vehicle - the Mgebrov-R armoured car:

The Mgebrov-R (Izhorsky Mgebrov-Renault) is a Russian armoured car of the First World War, designed under Staff Captain Vladimir Mgebrov and built on a French Renault chassis, with armour fitted at the Izhorsky Plant. Its defining feature was the heavily sloped armour plating of the front section - one of the early applications of sloped armour, giving better ballistic protection with less plate thickness and weight.

The vehicle was operated by a crew of four (driver, commander and two gunners) and was armed with machine guns. The Mgebrov-R was built in small numbers and used mainly on the Eastern Front for reconnaissance and infantry support. Some vehicles were still being rebuilt during the 1917 Revolution. Despite the limited production, the design remains an important example of the early development of Russian armour.

Original specifications (Mgebrov-R):
