Guns – 3D printing together with a section of interior

The set contains the nose-turret machine guns and the fuselage gun positions together with ammunition belts and a section of the fuselage floor, produced by direct 3D printing. They replace the simplified plastic parts, offering sharp shapes and rich detail.

The elements are fitted with cyanoacrylate adhesive. Precisely reproduced gun positions are a clearly visible detail, especially with the flying boat's observation blisters open.

About the aircraft – Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina:

The Consolidated PBY Catalina was an American flying boat, one of the most important maritime patrol aircraft of the Second World War. Two Pratt & Whitney R-1830 radial engines and a high-mounted parasol wing gave the aircraft enormous range and endurance, used for ocean patrols, anti-submarine work and rescue missions.

The PBY-5A version was the amphibious variant, fitted with retractable wheeled undercarriage, allowing it to operate from both water and land. The Catalina became famous for, among other things, spotting the German battleship Bismarck and for its part in the Battle of Midway, and after the war it long served in civilian and rescue roles.
