Description

Eduard Brassin (3D print) engine set with cowlings for the Bf 109K-4 model in 1:72 scale

The Eduard 672455 is a 3D-printed engine set with cowlings, tailored to the Bf 109K-4 model in 1:72 scale (recommended kit: Eduard). The set lets you build the model with an exposed powerplant and display the finely detailed engine.

The printed parts reproduce the structure of the engine and its fittings to a degree difficult to achieve with injection moulding. The cowlings are included in the set. The parts replace the corresponding plastic parts of the base kit.

What's in the box:

  • 3D-printed engine with cowlings – 26 parts
  • Photo-etched parts

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Catalogue number: 672455
  • Manufacturer: Eduard (Brassin Print 3D line)
  • Recommended kit: Eduard
  • Accessory type: engine with cowlings
  • Material: 3D print + photo-etched parts

3D-printed parts – fine detail unattainable with injection moulding

Brassin Print 3D accessories are produced using direct 3D printing, a technology that reproduces very fine and spatially complex details that are difficult or impossible to achieve with classic injection moulding. The parts replace the corresponding plastic parts of the base kit, raising the level of detail of the finished model.

The 3D-printed parts should be cut from their printing supports, cleaned up and attached with cyanoacrylate glue. Because the details are delicate, it is worth using precision tweezers and working carefully. The printed parts take paint well once primed.

The set is complemented by photo-etched parts, which allow the thinnest, flat details of the cowlings and engine fittings to be added. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue using precision tweezers.

About the aircraft – Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4:

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the Luftwaffe's principal fighter throughout the Second World War. The K-4 version, introduced in late 1944, was the last series-produced variant of the family – it standardised earlier solutions and received a more powerful Daimler-Benz DB 605D engine with short-term power boosting.

The K-4 featured, among other things, an improved streamlined (Erla) canopy and reinforced armament. Despite its high performance, the aircraft entered service in the closing period of the war, when the Luftwaffe was already suffering acute shortages of fuel and experienced pilots.

Original aircraft specifications (Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4):

  • Length: approx. 8.85 m
  • Wingspan: approx. 9.92 m
  • Height: approx. 2.6 m
  • Powerplant: Daimler-Benz DB 605D inline engine, approx. 1,850–2,000 hp (with boosting)
  • Maximum speed: approx. 715 km/h
  • Service ceiling: approx. 12,000 m
  • Crew: 1 pilot
  • Armament: MK 108 30 mm cannon (through the propeller hub) and 2 × MG 131 13 mm machine guns
  • Production: from late 1944
