Description

Eduard CX113 mask set – canopy painting masks for the P-3C Orion model (Hasegawa) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX113 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the P-3C Orion model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Catalogue number: CX113
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: P-3C Orion from Hasegawa
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Lockheed P-3 Orion:

The Lockheed P-3 Orion is an American four-engine maritime patrol and anti-submarine aircraft that entered service in 1962. It was developed from the Lockheed L-188 Electra airliner, from which it inherited its low-wing layout and four Allison T56 turboprop engines. A distinctive feature is the tail boom housing a magnetic anomaly detector (MAD) used to locate submerged submarines.

The aircraft carries torpedoes, depth charges, mines and anti-ship missiles, with an extensive weapons load in the fuselage bay and on underwing pylons. Its long endurance allows it to conduct maritime patrols, reconnaissance and search operations effectively. About 750 examples were built and operated by many nations; the type has remained in service for decades, gradually replaced by aircraft such as the Boeing P-8.

Original specifications (Lockheed P-3 Orion):

  • Length: 35.61 m
  • Wingspan: 30.37 m
  • Height: 11.85 m
  • Takeoff weight: approx. 64,400 kg
  • Crew: approx. 11
  • Powerplant: 4 × Allison T56 turboprop, approx. 4,600 hp each
  • Max speed: approx. 750 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 8,600 m
  • Range: approx. 8,900 km
  • Armament: torpedoes, depth charges, mines, Harpoon missiles; payload approx. 9,000 kg
  • Production: approx. 757 (1961–1990)
