Eduard CX114 mask set – canopy painting masks for the G3M Nell model (Hasegawa) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX114 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the G3M Nell model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Mitsubishi G3M (Nell):

The Mitsubishi G3M (Allied reporting name Nell) was a Japanese twin-engine maritime bomber of Imperial Navy aviation, entering service in 1936. The all-metal low-wing aircraft was powered by two Mitsubishi Kinsei radial engines. It was designed for very long range, allowing it to operate over the vast reaches of the Pacific and the coasts of China from land bases.

The G3M became famous in December 1941 when, together with the newer G4M, it took part in sinking the British warships Prince of Wales and Repulse in a torpedo and bomb attack. Its weaknesses were modest armour and defensive armament, which left it vulnerable to fighters. Over 1,000 examples were built, and as the war progressed it was shifted to auxiliary and transport duties.
