Eduard CX137 mask set – canopy painting masks for the P2V-7 Neptune model (Hasegawa) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX137 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the P2V-7 Neptune model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Lockheed P2V-7 Neptune (maritime patrol aircraft):

The Neptune was designed at the end of the Second World War as a long-range, land-based maritime patrol aircraft intended for anti-submarine warfare. A conventional low-wing monoplane, it featured a large weapons bay and extensive search equipment. The prototype first flew in 1945, and the type soon became the standard patrol aircraft of the United States naval aviation and numerous allied air arms.

The P2V-7 was the final production variant, considerably expanded over earlier ones, first flown in 1954. Two auxiliary turbojets were added in underwing nacelles alongside the piston engines to improve take-off and flight performance. The aircraft carried depth charges, torpedoes, mines and a magnetic anomaly detector in a distinctive tail boom. It was later redesignated SP-2H, and examples remained in service with several countries into the 1970s.
