Description

Eduard CX281 mask set – canopy painting masks for the C-27J Spartan model (Italeri) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX281 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the C-27J Spartan model from Italeri. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:72
  • Catalogue number: CX281
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: C-27J Spartan from Italeri
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Alenia C-27J Spartan:

The C-27J Spartan is a tactical transport aircraft built by the Italian company Alenia Aeronautica (now Leonardo). It was developed from the older G.222, with which it shares its layout and part of its structure, but received a new powerplant and avionics common with the C-130J Super Hercules. The prototype in the new configuration first flew in 1999 and the type entered service in the following decade.

The aircraft is adapted for troop and cargo transport, airdrops and operation from short, unprepared airstrips. Power comes from two Rolls-Royce AE 2100 turboprop engines with six-blade propellers. The C-27J is operated by the armed forces of Italy, Australia, the United States and several European countries among others. Individual aircraft differ in mission equipment and cabin configuration according to order.

Original specifications (Alenia C-27J Spartan):

  • Length: 22.7 m
  • Wingspan: 28.7 m
  • Height: 9.64 m
  • Take-off weight: 31,800 kg
  • Crew: 2-3
  • Powerplant: 2 x Rolls-Royce AE 2100-D2A turboprop, approx. 3,460 kW each
  • Max speed: approx. 600 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 9,150 m
  • Range: approx. 1,850 km with payload
  • Payload: up to 11,500 kg or 60 troops
  • Production: from 2007 (first flight 1999)
