Eduard CX512 mask set – canopy painting masks for the MiG-21MF model (Eduard) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX512 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the MiG-21MF model from Eduard. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21:

The MiG-21 is one of the most widely produced supersonic fighters in history, with prototypes first flown in 1955-1956. It features a delta wing and a nose air intake with a movable shock cone. Many generations were built: from the early MiG-21F-13, through radar-equipped and increased-fuel versions (PF, PFM, MF), to the MiG-21bis with a more powerful Tumansky R-25 engine and improved avionics.

The aircraft was used by dozens of states and licence-built in India and, as derivatives, in China (Chengdu J-7). It took part in numerous conflicts: in Vietnam, the Arab-Israeli wars and on the Indian subcontinent. It remains in service in some countries to this day, with upgrades extending its use.
