Eduard CX665 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for reproducing the surface panel layout, tailored to the P-51D model from Eduard. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Surface panel masks – shade variation without freehand painting

This set contains masks defining the layout of the skin panels, so individual fields can be painted in a slightly different shade for a subtle, realistic surface variation. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper and outline the areas to be sprayed.

The masks are applied over a painted, cured model, the edges are pressed down and the chosen shade is airbrushed, then removed once dry. The set is intended for airbrush painting.

About the aircraft – North American P-51D Mustang:

The P-51D Mustang was the most numerously produced variant of the American fighter, powered by a Packard V-1650 Merlin inline engine. Its main distinguishing feature was the bubble canopy and cut-down rear fuselage, which significantly improved rearward visibility compared with the earlier B/C version. Wing armament was increased to six 12.7 mm machine guns, improving firepower.

Thanks to its long range with underwing fuel tanks, the P-51D was used mainly as a long-range escort fighter accompanying bomber formations over enemy territory. It was also used for fighter-bomber tasks and attacking ground targets. The D version became the emblem of the type and remained in service with many nations long after the war. Thousands of examples of this variant were built.
