Eduard EX086 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Ki-27 Nate model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Nakajima Ki-27 Nate:

The Nakajima Ki-27 was a Japanese single-seat fighter of the Imperial Army from the second half of the 1930s. It was an all-metal low-wing monoplane with an enclosed canopy, but retained fixed, spatted undercarriage. The design strongly emphasised manoeuvrability and low weight at the expense of armament and armour. The Allies gave it the reporting name Nate.

The Ki-27 entered service in the late 1930s and was the Japanese Army's main fighter in combat over China and in the border conflict with the USSR. It was still in service in the early Pacific War before being replaced by more modern types. Its light gun armament and lack of protection became serious drawbacks against more heavily armed opponents. About 3400 examples were built.
