Eduard EX109 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the C6N Saiun/Myrt model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Nakajima C6N Saiun (Myrt):

The Nakajima C6N Saiun was a Japanese carrier-based long-range reconnaissance aircraft, designed to meet the Imperial Navy's need for a machine able to outrun enemy fighters. It was a single-engine low-wing monoplane with a slender fuselage, retractable landing gear and a crew of three. Powered by a powerful radial engine, it combined high speed with long range, which made it a difficult target for defences.

It entered service in 1944 and was used mainly for reconnaissance in the final period of the Pacific war, when Japanese carriers were effectively out of action. It was known for evading interception thanks to its high speed. A night-fighter version, the C6N1-S, with obliquely mounted cannon was also produced. About 460 examples were built.
