Eduard EX367 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the B-29 model from Monogram / Revell. What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: EX367
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: B-29 from Monogram / Revell
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Boeing B-29 Superfortress:

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress is a four-engine heavy strategic bomber developed for the US Army Air Forces during World War II. First flown in 1942, it introduced several innovations: pressurized crew cabins, remotely controlled gun turrets and advanced avionics. The large-span low-wing airframe was powered by Wright radial piston engines, allowing high-altitude flight and long ranges over the Pacific.

The B-29 played a central role in the bombing campaign against Japan, including firebombing raids and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. After the war it served in the Korean conflict and as a reconnaissance aircraft, tanker and research platform. The USSR developed its own copy, the Tu-4, from it. Numerous variants appeared, including reconnaissance and tanker versions. The bomber crew was usually 11.

Original specifications (Boeing B-29 Superfortress):

  • Length: 30.2 m
  • Wingspan: 43.1 m
  • Height: 8.46 m
  • Max takeoff weight: approx. 60,560 kg
  • Crew: usually 11
  • Powerplant: 4 x Wright R-3350-23 radials, approx. 2200 hp each
  • Max speed: approx. 574 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 9700 m
  • Range: approx. 5230 km
  • Armament: 10-12 x 12.7 mm MGs in remote turrets, 20 mm cannon (some aircraft); up to approx. 9000 kg bombs
  • Production: 1943-1946, approx. 3970 built
