Description

Eduard EX932 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Mi-8MT model (Zvezda) in 1:48 scale

Eduard EX932 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Mi-8MT model from Zvezda. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper, die-cut for the canopy and other glazing and for the wheel hubs
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: EX932
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: Mi-8MT from Zvezda
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Mil Mi-8/Mi-17 (transport helicopter):

The Mi-8 is a Soviet multi-role transport helicopter developed by the Mil bureau in the 1960s as a successor to the piston-engined Mi-4. Unlike its predecessor, it is powered by two turboshaft engines mounted above the cabin, which increased performance and reliability. The cargo cabin holds troops or cargo, and clamshell doors are located at the rear of the fuselage. It is one of the most widely produced helicopters in the world.

It was developed into the Mi-17 family with more powerful engines and a tail rotor moved to the right side, adapted for more demanding conditions. Many versions were produced: transport, armed, rescue, medical and command variants. Armed versions carry unguided rocket pods, gun pods and guided missiles on side outriggers.

Original specifications (Mil Mi-8/Mi-17 (transport helicopter)):

  • Fuselage length: 18.2 m
  • Main rotor diameter: 21.3 m
  • Height: 5.65 m
  • Empty weight: approx. 7,260 kg
  • Maximum weight: approx. 12,000-13,000 kg
  • Crew: 3 (2 pilots and a flight technician)
  • Powerplant: 2 x Klimov TV2-117 or TV3-117 turboshaft, approx. 1,500-1,900 hp each
  • Maximum speed: approx. 250 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 4,500-6,000 m
  • Payload: up to 24 troops or 4,000 kg of cargo (up to 3,000 kg on external sling)
  • Armament (armed versions): rocket pods, gun pods and guided missiles on side outriggers
  • Production: from 1965, over 17,000 built (Mi-8/Mi-17)
