Description

Eduard EX706 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Mi-24 model (Zvezda) in 1:48 scale

Eduard EX706 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Mi-24 model from Zvezda. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper in the TFace version – separate masks for the exterior and interior of the glazing, plus wheel hub masks
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: EX706
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: Mi-24 from Zvezda
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks (TFace version)
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Mil Mi-24P Hind:

The Mil Mi-24 (NATO code name Hind) is a Soviet heavy combat helicopter, first flown in 1969. It combines the role of a gunship with the ability to carry a small assault squad in a troop compartment, which distinguishes it from purely attack helicopters. It features armored tandem crew cabins, short stub wings with weapons hardpoints and powerful turboshaft engines. The Mi-24P variant received a fixed twin-barrel cannon mounted on the right side of the fuselage instead of a movable turret.

The Mi-24 entered service in the 1970s and was widely operated by the USSR and numerous other nations. It has been used in many conflicts, including Afghanistan, for fire support, anti-armor work and escort. Many versions were produced, differing in armament, avionics and equipment. The helicopter remains in service in upgraded forms to this day.

Original specifications (Mil Mi-24P Hind):

  • Fuselage length: approx. 17.5 m
  • Rotor diameter: 17.3 m
  • Height: 6.5 m
  • Takeoff weight: approx. 11,500 kg
  • Crew: 2, plus up to 8 troops
  • Powerplant: 2 Klimov TV3-117 turboshaft engines, approx. 2,200 hp each
  • Max speed: approx. 335 km/h
  • Ceiling: approx. 4,900 m
  • Range: approx. 450 km
  • Armament: fixed twin-barrel 30 mm GSh-30K cannon, guided missiles, unguided rockets and bombs on hardpoints
  • Production: since 1969 (Mi-24 family), thousands built
