  • Mask placement instructions

  • Dedicated kit: Do 335B from HK Models
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Dornier Do 335A Pfeil:

The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil was a German heavy fighter with an unusual tandem engine layout: one engine in the nose in a conventional tractor arrangement, the other in the rear fuselage driving a pusher propeller. This solution combined the power of two engines with low frontal drag, giving very high speed. It was a low-wing aircraft with retractable tricycle landing gear and an ejection seat.

The machine appeared late in the war and reached only the testing and pre-production stage, playing no significant combat role. The Do 335A version was a single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber; two-seat trainer and night-fighter variants were also planned. Only a few dozen examples were built.

Original specifications (Dornier Do 335A Pfeil):

  • Length: 13.9 m
  • Wingspan: 13.8 m
  • Height: 5.0 m
  • Empty weight: 7266 kg
  • Take-off weight: 9600 kg
  • Crew: 1
  • Powerplant: 2x Daimler-Benz DB 603 inline, approx. 1750 hp each
  • Max speed: 765 km/h
  • Ceiling: 11,400 m
  • Range: 1400 km
  • Armament: 1x 30 mm cannon and 2x 15 mm cannon; production 1943-1945, a few dozen units
