Eduard JX265 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Fokker Dr.I model (Meng) in 1:32 scale

Eduard JX265 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Fokker Dr.I model from Meng. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Fokker Dr.I:

The Fokker Dr.I is a German fighter of the First World War in the uncommon triplane layout. It was built by Fokker as a response to the British Sopwith triplane and entered service in 1917. Three short, low-span wings provided high lift and manoeuvrability while keeping the dimensions compact. The structure was based on a welded steel-tube fuselage and wooden wings, all fabric-covered.

The aircraft became famous through German aces, including Manfred von Richthofen. Its quick climb and agility suited turning combat, but a low maximum speed and wing structural problems limited its use. After a series of accidents the structure was reinforced. About 320 examples were built, and the type was withdrawn as faster fighters appeared towards the end of the war.
