Description

Eduard JX331 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Bf 109F-2 model (Hasegawa / Hobby 2000) in 1:32 scale

Eduard JX331 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Bf 109F-2 model from Hasegawa / Hobby 2000. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper in the TFace version – separate masks for the exterior and interior of the glazing, plus wheel hub masks
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:32
  • Catalogue number: JX331
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: Bf 109F-2 from Hasegawa / Hobby 2000
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks (TFace version)
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Messerschmitt Bf 109F:

The Messerschmitt Bf 109F, known as the Friedrich, is a development of the German fighter introduced in early 1941. Compared with the E version, it received an aerodynamically refined airframe: rounded wingtips, a streamlined engine cowling and a redesigned tail. These changes improved performance and handling. It was powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 601, in later sub-versions with increased output.

The F versions were used on the Eastern Front, in North Africa and over Western Europe. The armament was simplified: the wing cannon were removed in favour of a single cannon firing through the propeller hub, supplemented by two machine guns above the engine. Many pilots regarded the Friedrich as a version with very well-balanced handling within the Bf 109 family.

Original specifications (Messerschmitt Bf 109F):

  • Crew: 1
  • Length: 8.9 m
  • Wingspan: 9.9 m
  • Height: 2.6 m
  • Empty weight: approx. 2,350 kg
  • Take-off weight: approx. 3,100 kg
  • Powerplant: 1 x Daimler-Benz DB 601E inline engine, approx. 1,350 hp (F-4)
  • Max speed: approx. 630 km/h
  • Ceiling: 12,000 m
  • Range: approx. 700 km
  • Armament: 2 x 7.92 mm machine guns, 1 x 15 mm or 20 mm cannon firing through the propeller hub
