Building the model:

Thanks to its low parts count and simple construction, the model is a good starting point for those beginning in the hobby, as well as an attractive addition to a collection of September 1939 vehicles. Polish wz. 29 armoured cars were painted in a distinctive three-colour camouflage (shades of green, brown and sand with a dark outline); after applying the decals, a matt finish typical of military vehicles is worth considering.

Tools you will need:

  • Modelling side cutters for removing parts from the sprues
  • Hobby knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper for cleaning up sprue-gate marks
  • Plastic cement
  • Brushes of various sizes
  • Modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
  • Modelling wash to emphasise detail

About the vehicle – armoured car wz. 29 "Ursus":

The wz. 29 "Ursus" armoured car was a Polish heavy armoured car of the interwar period, designed on the chassis of the Ursus A truck. It appeared in the early 1930s and stood out – compared with other Polish armoured cars of the time – for its strong armament, comprising a 37 mm gun and machine guns.

Only a small number of these vehicles were built, equipping the armoured-car units of the cavalry. In September 1939 the wz. 29 took part in defensive fighting, including in the Warsaw area. Despite an already dated design and small numbers, the "Ursus" was among the most heavily armed Polish armoured cars of the September campaign.

Original specifications (armoured car wz. 29):

  • Width: approx. 1.85 m
