About HMS Sheffield:

HMS Sheffield (D80) was the first of the Type 42 destroyers designed for the Royal Navy, equipped with the Sea Dart missile system. Commissioned in 1975, she served until her tragic loss during the Falklands War, when she was struck by an Argentine Exocet missile on May 4, 1982. The sinking shocked the public and highlighted new threats in modern naval warfare. HMS Sheffield symbolized the transition from traditional gun-based ships to missile-armed modern destroyers.
