Description

Plastic model kit of the AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopter in 1:48 scale

Hasegawa 07564 is a kit for self-assembly representing the American attack helicopter AH-64E Apache Guardian – the latest development of the Apache family. The aircraft combines heavy armament, advanced sighting and observation systems and good battlefield survivability.

The model can be built as the AH-64E or the AH-64D Block II (late version). Special parts reproduce the pointed rotor-blade tips and the upward-facing engine exhausts, while photo-etched parts represent the exhaust deflectors and cooling-intake covers.

What's in the box:

  • Plastic sprues with fuselage, rotor and armament parts
  • Clear parts for the cabin glazing
  • Photo-etched parts: exhaust deflectors and cooling-intake covers
  • Parts to build the AH-64E or the AH-64D Block II (late version)
  • Waterslide decal sheet for 3 US Army marking options
  • Illustrated assembly instructions

Specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: 07564
  • Manufacturer: Hasegawa
  • Assembled length: approx. 370 mm, main rotor diameter: approx. 305 mm
  • Difficulty level: intermediate

Note: The kit does not include glue, paints or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Assembly:

A model of moderate difficulty, with photo-etched parts and a choice of version to build. Before starting it is worth deciding whether to build the AH-64E or the AH-64D Block II, as this affects the selection of parts. The cockpit and interior are best painted before the fuselage is closed. Working with photo-etched parts calls for cyanoacrylate glue and precise tweezers.

Helicopters of this type are usually painted in a single dark olive shade; the instructions provide paint suggestions for each option. The model can be finished with a matt varnish, with the detail and panels emphasised using a wash.

Tools required:

  • Modelling nippers for removing parts from the sprues
  • Modelling knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper for cleaning up sprue-gate marks
  • Plastic cement and cyanoacrylate glue for the photo-etched parts
  • Precise modelling tweezers
  • Brushes in various sizes
  • Modelling paints (acrylic or enamel)
  • A wash to bring out the detail
