Hasegawa 40121 in 1:350 scale depicts the Imperial Japanese Navy carrier Hiyō as she appeared in 1944 during the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The kit allows modelers to build a large and highly detailed replica of one of Japan’s key carriers of World War II.

About IJN Hiyō:

IJN Hiyō was a Japanese aircraft carrier converted from a passenger liner hull. Commissioned in 1942, she took part in several Pacific campaigns before meeting her fate at the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944. Struck by a torpedo from a US Navy aircraft, she sank after a catastrophic aviation fuel explosion. Hiyō was one of the carriers that represented Japan’s efforts to maintain naval air power in the later years of the war.
