Description

Hawker Typhoon Mk. IB Car Door 1942 – 1:48 Scale Plastic Model Kit

Hobby 2000 48042 is a special edition of the Hawker Typhoon Mk. IB “Car Door” representing the aircraft as used in 1942 during its early operational service with the Royal Air Force. The kit is based on Hasegawa tooling and enhanced with high-quality Cartograf decals and canopy painting masks. In 1:48 scale, the model accurately reproduces the distinctive early Typhoon configuration with side-opening cockpit doors.

Inside the box:

  • Plastic parts (Hasegawa tooling)
  • Detailed cockpit components
  • External armament and equipment parts
  • Cartograf decals for selected 1942 marking options
  • Canopy painting masks
  • Assembly instructions
  • The model includes Hasegawy frames, Cartograf decals, and glazing masks.

Model technical data:

  • Model length: approx. 20.0 cm

The included masks make canopy painting easier and more precise. After construction, the model should be painted according to the selected 1942 marking option.

Required tools:

  • Files and/or sanding paper
  • Brushes
  • Plastic cement
  • Paint set suitable for RAF aircraft of 1942

  • Wingspan: approx. 12.67 m
  • Crew: 1
  • Engine: 1 × Napier Sabre II
  • Armament: 4 × 20 mm Hispano cannons and external stores

About the Hawker Typhoon:

The Hawker Typhoon was developed as a next-generation interceptor fighter but initially faced technical challenges. Early 1942 aircraft, known as the “Car Door” version, featured distinctive side-opening cockpit doors. Over time, the Typhoon evolved into one of the RAF’s most effective ground-attack aircraft, particularly in operations over Western Europe.

About Hobby 2000:

Hobby 2000 offers aircraft model kits in various scales, often based on proven tooling from well-known manufacturers and enhanced with high-quality decals and additional accessories. These editions provide modelers with attractive historical subjects and solid detail levels.
