About the Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. a1:

The Panzerkampfwagen II was a German light tank developed in the mid-1930s as a stopgap solution until more advanced designs could be fielded. The Ausf. a1 was the first pre-series variant, produced between 1935 and 1936 in limited numbers. Armed with a 20 mm KwK 30 cannon and an MG34 machine gun, it featured light armor but proved invaluable for crew training and early campaigns, including Poland (1939) and France (1940). It also served as the basis for later Pz.Kpfw. II variants.

  • Armor: 5–14.5 mm
  • Engine: Maybach HL 57 TR, 130 hp
