Description

MiniArt 48044 – Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 Early Prod. (Advanced Kit), 1:48 model kit

MiniArt 48044 is a self-assembly model of the early-production Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 "Dora" in 1:48 scale. It is an Advanced Kit edition offering extra detail for more demanding modellers, including a full Junkers Jumo 213 inline engine.

What's in the box:

  • Injection-moulded plastic parts
  • Photo-etched parts
  • Clear sprue
  • Full Junkers Jumo 213 inline engine
  • Weighted wheels
  • Decals for 3 marking options
  • Illustrated assembly instructions

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Product code: 48044
  • Manufacturer: MiniArt
  • Assembled length: approx. 212 mm, wingspan: approx. 219 mm
  • Difficulty: intermediate/advanced

Note: the set does not include glue, paints or modelling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Assembly:

The Advanced edition includes extra detail and photo-etched parts (attached with cyanoacrylate glue). The full engine is worth painting and shading before enclosing it; the fuselage can be closed with the engine section exposed or covered. The cockpit interior is painted before joining the halves.

We recommend applying the decals over a gloss coat, which limits the risk of decal silvering, and after drying sealing them with a matt or satin coat.

Required tools:

  • Modelling nippers
  • Modelling knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper
  • Plastic cement
  • Cyanoacrylate glue (for photo-etched and small parts)
  • Precise modelling tweezers
  • Primer, brushes and modelling paints
  • Modelling wash to emphasise details

About the aircraft – Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9:

The Fw 190 D-9 "Dora" was a version of the famous Focke-Wulf fighter in which the BMW 801 radial engine was replaced with the inline Junkers Jumo 213, lengthening the nose. This gave the characteristic "long-nose" silhouette and better performance at medium and high altitudes. The aircraft entered service late in the war, in 1944.

Specifications (Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9):

  • Length: approx. 10.19 m
  • Wingspan: approx. 10.51 m
  • Crew: 1
  • Powerplant: Junkers Jumo 213A inline engine, approx. 1,750 hp
  • Maximum speed: approx. 685 km/h
  • Armament: two 13 mm machine guns and two 20 mm cannon
