Glue for plastic (polystyrene) is a basic tool used in building scale model kits.

Each and every type of this glue works by slightly melting the plastic, that hardens as the glue dries (evaporates). This way we can achieve a strong bond between two plastic parts. One of the most basic types of plastic glue it one of thick or medium thick consistency that is applied on a model kit using a brush or - for greater precision - a needle. It evaporates slowly giving plenty of time to correct fit of the parts. It requires pressing and holding the parts against each other using either a clamp or a rubber band. Other, more modern approach are the "extra thin" consistency glues, that are used by apllying it along a joint of two dry fitted parts. They flow easily into a seam and bond whe parts well evaporating quickly which doesn't require holding the parts for long time. Thanks to their fast evaporation if there is a small spill on the model it won't damage the plastic, but simply dry out. They are also very well suited for cleanly adding very small details to a kit. Different types of plastic glue complement modeller's workshop and have their uses depending on the situation.
