Description

Model of a flatcar with a die-cast pickup and motorcycle in Hog Express colours

A ready-to-run flatcar for the G-scale garden railway, carrying a die-cast metal pickup with a classic motorcycle mounted on its bed. The whole is finished in the colours of the fictional Hog Express carrier, making the wagon an eye-catching, characterful part of a train and an attractive addition to any garden rolling-stock collection.

The flatcar stands out with its realistically reproduced timber deck with removable side boards and carefully rendered factory-applied details: brake wheel, wheel chocks, brake cylinder, grab irons and steps. The sturdy, weather-resistant construction and durable plastic wheels are designed for year-round outdoor running, while the hook-and-loop couplers make it easy to make up a train.

About the flatcar:

The flatcar is one of the most versatile types of goods rolling stock – an open, flat load area resting on two trucks allows it to carry loads that do not fit in closed wagons: machinery, vehicles, long materials or containers. In garden railway modelling, flatcars with an eye-catching load are especially popular, because they bring a train to life and let you tell your own story on the layout.

In this model the load is a metal pickup with a classic motorcycle on its bed – hence the name Hog Express, alluding to the colloquial term for a heavy motorcycle. The large G scale shows off the details of both the flatcar itself and the vehicles it carries, so the wagon looks good both in motion and as part of a display.
