1:35 scale plastic model kit of the Soviet BMD-1 airborne infantry fighting vehicle
This Hobby Boss kit depicts the Soviet BMD-1 – the world’s first mass-produced airborne infantry fighting vehicle designed specifically for paratrooper units. The model accurately reproduces the hull, turret, and suspension of the original, including the hydropneumatic system allowing ground clearance adjustment. Ideal for Cold War dioramas or modern airborne scenes.

About the BMD-1:
The BMD-1 (Boyevaya Mashina Desanta) was developed in the Soviet Union in the early 1960s as a light, amphibious airborne combat vehicle for paratrooper forces. Designed to be air-dropped along with its crew, it combined mobility, firepower, and protection in a compact form. Armed with a 73 mm 2A28 Grom cannon and 9M14 Malyutka ATGM, the BMD-1 provided effective anti-armor capability. Introduced in 1969, it saw service in numerous conflicts including Afghanistan and the Caucasus, and served as the basis for later variants like the BMD-2, BMD-3, and BMD-4.
