H0 scale model of ABge 1st/2nd class passenger coach Deutsche Reichsbahn
This model represents a 1st/2nd class passenger coach type ABge from the standard express coach series of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. It depicts an epoch IV version used in East Germany, where these classic steel coaches remained in service long after their introduction in the late 1920s.

The standard express coaches of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG), introduced from 1928 onwards, shaped long-distance passenger transport in Germany for decades. Their riveted all-steel construction ensured durability and reliability.
After World War II, these coaches continued to serve with the Deutsche Reichsbahn in East Germany. Due to a shortage of newer rolling stock, they remained in operation longer than in West Germany, hauling express and fast passenger trains well into the 1960s. Their classic design became a hallmark of European railway history.
