T-Model TK35008 is an upgrade in the form of a thin wooden sheet reproducing the deck planking of the post-war four-axle Rlmmp 700 flatcar in 1:35. The set is intended for T-Model 1:35 models of this car.

The Rlmmp 700 remained in service for close to four decades, which makes its deck a rewarding subject for weathering work: scuffing from tracks and wheels, oil stains, sun-bleached boards and sections replaced with fresh timber. Real wood delivers that character naturally, without the texture having to be painted on with a brush.

Thin wooden decks – planks that look like planks

A plastic moulding reproduces the shape of the planking, but its surface always stays uniform and smooth — there is no grain in it, because the mould cannot carry one. Wood has grain by nature and additionally absorbs paint and stain unevenly, so colour settles into subtle streaks running along the fibres. That effect is hard to fake with a brush, and in 1:35, where a single plank is a few millimetres wide, deck texture is one of the first details the eye lands on.

The sheet is glued to the model's deck with PVA glue or cyanoacrylate. Colouring the wood before fitting is convenient — stain, heavily thinned acrylics or a wash applied to individual planks gives a natural spread of tones. Once dry, it is worth considering emphasising the edges and gaps with a darker wash and adding service wear — dust, grime, oil streaks — with pigments. Modellers who work in oils can also build up the worn areas gradually with successive glazes; both routes lead to a convincing result.

About the prototype – Rlmmp 700:

The Rlmmp 700 was a post-war four-axle flatcar of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, built to the standard design („Regelbauart"). It was in service roughly from 1952 to 1991 and had a capacity of about 50–52 tons. Structurally it descends from the pre-war and wartime Ssy45 family of flatcars, which is clearly visible in the layout of its frame and deck.

Cars of this type were used among other things to move heavy Bundeswehr equipment, which makes the Rlmmp 700 an attractive setting for dioramas featuring post-war and modern vehicles — from Leopard tanks and armoured personnel carriers to trucks and engineering equipment. Its long service life also opens up a wide range of possible scenes, from the 1950s to the last decade of the Cold War.
