Also included is a bottle of CA glue for bonding together resin and metal parts and two guides: one with general tips for using tools and the other with a short introduction to miniature painting.

The Army Painter tools were especially chosen, to make the process of building a miniature or a model kit as fast and hassle free as possible. Line includes only proven and indispensable products with clearly stated purpose. All Army Painter tools have a good price to quality ratio and can withstand hardships of model making work.

Warpaints line is the basic paint series from Army Painter. They are water soluble acrylic paints in 18ml plastic bottles with precise dropper. Having very high pigmentation of the best quality they ensure great coverage even after painting the first layer. Designed for brushpainting they can be thinned with water or using a dedicated Warpaints Mixing Medium or any other thinner for this type of paints. Colour palette is designed primarily with wargaming and fantasy miniature painters in mind. All Warpaint series colours have a 100% colour match in shade and hue with their spray can counterparts.

Quickshade wash is a water soluble acrylic variant of its enamel counterpart. Packed in 18ml plastic bottles with dropper. Can be diluted with water though manufacturer recommends using Quickshade Mixing Medium. Best results are obtained while applied by a paintbrush, for only a slight change od the base colour can be airbrushed. Contrary to the enamel variant, that requires submerging in it the whole model, Quickshade Wash can be used similar to an acrylic wash with a much greater control, mixing its different shades on a single model. Has a short drying time, still longer however than a typical acrylic wash which gives more working time and it's easier to correct possible mistakes. 11 available shades allow quick and easy shading and bringing together any imaginable colour combination on a model.

Side cutters are one of the basic modelling tools.

They are used for cutting out the model parts from the sprues. Size and shape of their blade determines precision of the cutters. Cheaper models might leave a burred mark in the place of cutting, more expensive and precise models would make cutting out even the smalles details an effortless task. Side cutters with two blades are an industry standard and will work in any situation. Also available are single edge cutters that work similar like a guillotine - blade cuts the plastic that rests on the other, blunt part of the cutters. Cutting in such manner works best when the injection gate lies on the edge of the part. While cutting out the elements you have to remember that the first cut should be made at some distance from the part. Thanks to this you won't risk deforming the element. After we cut out such part from the sprue, we can trim the remaining plastic from the injection channel and make final cleaning of the part.

File is one of the basic modelling tools needed for building a model kit.

It is indispensable for filing uneven surfaces that are left after removing part from sprue. We can also use them to file down the excess material after joining the parts together or putty.

Cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) is used for quick and strong bonding parts made of metal and resin.

In model making those glues are available in 3 consistencies: medium - a standard viscosity for those glues combinig quick bonding with an ease of application, thin - that in use can be similar to Extra Thin glues for plastic and bonds extremely quickly and thick - that bonds a little slower thus giving some time to correct the part's placement. CA glues doesn't react with plastic and can be removed wither mechanically by sanding or chemically using special CA glue debonder products.

Paintbrush is one of the most basic tools in model maker's workshop. Depending on its shape, size and bristle type it can be used for painting, applying weathering products, pigments and even glue and various putties.

Brushes can be divided by the bristle shape inti:

round brushes - for general use, suitable for painting base colours, details, precise application of washes and other effects etc.

flat brushes - great for quick painting of larger surfaces, drybrushing and making weathering effects on model kits.

To keep our brush in the best condition for the mongest possible time we have to maintain them properly. After use, they have to be thoroughly cleaned by soaking them in cleaner or thinner appropriate for used paints (water, odourless thinner etc.) and gently wiping them in circular motion in a clean paper towel. Afterwards we have to form the tip again with our fingers, while the bristles are still moist. Then we leave the brush to dry, preferably hung with ferrule pointing downwards. For this, a special stand for cleaning the brushes.

For the best effect and keeping our brushes like new we can also use a special soap for cleaning the brushes.

Brush's bristles can lose their shape and properties with time. In case of natural brushes it is possible to restore them to a good condition using special brush restoration compounds. Synthetic brushes are harder to restore and in most cases cannot be saved. Most important thing to remember is to never let the paint or other substance to dry out on the brush bristles!

Army Painter is a Danish manufacturer of paints and painting accessories for miniatures - mainly for wargames and board games.

Founded in 2007, from the beginning the aim of the company was to provide an easy and efficient way of painting miniatures to a reasonable standard thus giving players more time for gaming itself. Result of this approach are high quality lines of hobby colour primers, washes and acrylic paints complemented by the same quality paint brushes and hobby tools. Their “quickshade” products gained a good reputation among the wargamers and modellers alike, becoming one of the most popular such products. Additional feature of Army Painter products is a clear and intuitive way of naming paint colours and brush sizes which greatly facilitates the process of choosing the right tool for the job. Very good price to quality ratio and a suitability for both model making and wargaming use are the main reasons to check out this company’s products.
