Quickshade wash is an acrylic equivalent of the enamel product with the same name. Packed in 18ml plastic bottles with precise dropper. Can be thinned with water although dedicated Quickshade Mixing Medium is recommended. Best effects are acheived by applying it with a paintbrush, for very subtle tonal changes it can be airbrushed. Unlike its enamel counterpart, which required dipping the whole model in it, Quickshade Wash can be used much like a traditional acrylic wash mixing its different shades on various parts of the model. It's drying time is longer than of typical acrylic washes thus giving more time for working with it and correcting any possible mistakes. 11 available colours enables quick and easy shading and unifying any colour combination painted on a miniature.
Since their appearance on the model making market acrylic paints have revolutionized the hobby. Most of them can be thinned using alcohol or water which eliminates use of harmful, strong smelling solvents. Thanks to this they can be used indoors and should not be troublesome for others. Additionally it solves the problem of having proper thinner or solvent at hand - water is always available and it can also be used for cleaning our tools and brushes after painting with acrylics. Acrylic paints are non toxic and can be used by children. Their properties allow them to be appliet both by brush and airbrush, though the latter requires some experience and getting to know the paints a little. Acrylic paints drying time is much shorter than enamels or oils which on the one hand gives a comfort of faster work on a particular model (enamels tend to dry for over 24 hours) but it also makes the pigment dry on the airbrushe's needle tip and it needs to be removed from time to time while painting. Acrylic paints with similar base (water or alcohol) can be freely mixed together, which giver virtually limitless possibilities of creating different hues, shades or altering the base colour.
Army Painter is a Danish manufacturer of paints and painting accessories for miniatures - mainly for wargames and board games.
Founded in 2007, from the beginning the aim of the company was to provide an easy and efficient way of painting miniatures to a reasonable standard thus giving players more time for gaming itself. Result of this approach are high quality lines of hobby colour primers, washes and acrylic paints complemented by the same quality paint brushes and hobby tools. Their “quickshade” products gained a good reputation among the wargamers and modellers alike, becoming one of the most popular such products. Additional feature of Army Painter products is a clear and intuitive way of naming paint colours and brush sizes which greatly facilitates the process of choosing the right tool for the job. Very good price to quality ratio and a suitability for both model making and wargaming use are the main reasons to check out this company’s products.
