Vallejo 71071 Model Air Arctic Blue is a metallic blue acrylic paint, ready for airbrush application. Once dry, it gives a finish with a metallic sheen.

The shade works well for metallic finishes of vehicles, motorcycles and elements of civilian models, as well as blue accents and decorative elements. The best, smooth metallic effect is achieved over a smooth, dark base, applying the paint in thin layers.

Vallejo Model Air paints – characteristics and uses

Vallejo Model Air is a range of water-based acrylic paints developed specifically for airbrush application. The line also includes metallic shades, intended for representing metal surfaces and details of the model.

The metallic paints contain finely ground metallic pigment, which passes freely through small-diameter airbrush nozzles and, once dry, gives a finish with a metallic sheen. They are supplied in dropper bottles, which makes measuring and mixing colours easier.

The paints dry very quickly and form a durable film that preserves the detail of the model. They are non-flammable and contain no solvents, making them odourless and comfortable to work with.

How to use:

Before use, the metallic paint should be shaken well to distribute the pigment evenly. Model Air can be applied directly or thinned with Vallejo Airbrush Thinner; in addition, it is worth adding a small amount of Vallejo Flow Improver, which reduces the tendency of the paint to dry on the airbrush needle. The best, smooth metallic effect is achieved by applying the paint in thin layers over a smooth, dark base. For airbrushing, the recommended air pressure is 15–20 PSI (approximately 1–1.4 bar). The paint can also be applied with a brush. After finishing, Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner is recommended for cleaning the airbrush.
