About the IJN Takao cruiser:

IJN Takao was the lead ship of her class, designed as a heavy cruiser under the restrictions of the Washington Naval Treaty. Commissioned in 1932, she and her sister ships Atago, Maya, and Chōkai formed the core of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s cruiser force. Takao took part in major Pacific War operations, including the Battle of Midway, the Philippine Sea, and Leyte Gulf. Armed with ten 203 mm main guns, she was regarded as one of the most powerful cruisers of her time. Ultimately, she was sunk in Singapore in July 1946.
