Turned metal barrels – a quick model upgrade

Replacing the plastic barrels from the base kit with turned metal barrels is one of the simplest ways to raise the realism of a ship model. Metal barrels have even walls, crisp muzzles and correct proportions that are hard to achieve with injection-moulded parts. For assembly we suggest using cyanoacrylate glue, which provides a durable bond between metal and plastic.

Prinz Eugen was a German heavy cruiser of the Admiral Hipper type, one of the best-known units of the Kriegsmarine. The main armament consisted of eight 203 mm guns in four turrets.

The cruiser took part, among others, in the operation against Bismarck and in actions in the Baltic. The armament was complemented by 105 mm dual-purpose guns serving an anti-aircraft role.
