The Hawker Hurricane Mk I Trop is a desert-adapted version of one of the most important RAF fighters of the early Second World War. This 1:48 scale kit from Arma Hobby is a modern tooling that combines high detail, accurate shape and advanced modelling features.

Assembly:

The kit allows building either a standard Hurricane Mk I or the tropical version equipped with the characteristic Vokes air filter. Fine surface details include accurate panel lines and rivets, while the cockpit features a high level of detail. Additional realism can be achieved using downloadable 3D parts such as the pilot seat with belts and exhausts.

About the Hawker Hurricane Mk I Trop:

The Hawker Hurricane was one of the key RAF fighters in the early years of World War II. The Mk I Trop variant was adapted for operations in hot and dusty environments by introducing the Vokes air filter, protecting the engine from sand and debris. This feature became the most distinctive visual element of tropical Hurricanes.

These aircraft were widely used in North Africa, the Mediterranean and East Africa, including Malta and Kenya. They took part in fighter missions, escort duties and training operations, as well as early aircraft ferry operations from aircraft carriers to Malta. Hurricanes of this type served with both RAF and SAAF units.

Although gradually replaced by more advanced Hurricane Mk II variants, the Mk I Trop remained in service for some time, especially in training and secondary roles.
