1/48 scale plastic model kit of the Japanese floatplane fighter A6M2-N Rufe
The Eduard 84208 Weekend Edition kit represents the A6M2-N Rufe – a floatplane adaptation of the famous Zero fighter, serving in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Designed to operate from water bases and remote islands, it provided air defense and escort duties where no airfields were available.

About the A6M2-N Rufe:
The A6M2-N, code-named "Rufe" by the Allies, was a floatplane version of the Mitsubishi A6M Zero. Equipped with a large central float and two stabilizing pontoons, it could operate from lagoons, bays, and rivers across the Pacific. Rufes served on the Aleutian Islands and the Solomon campaign, providing air cover and defense for isolated Japanese outposts. Although slower than the land-based Zero, the Rufe retained excellent maneuverability and proved valuable in its specialized role.
