Eduard CX044 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the G4M2 Betty + Ohka model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Mitsubishi G4M Betty:

The Mitsubishi G4M, given the Allied reporting name Betty, was a Japanese twin-engine medium bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy, introduced into service in the early 1940s. It was designed with an emphasis on long range, achieved at the expense of armour and fuel-tank protection. Distinctive features were the large-diameter cylindrical fuselage and glazed gun positions. It was powered by two radial engines.

The aircraft was used as a level and torpedo bomber across the Pacific theatre. The lack of self-sealing tanks made it prone to catching fire when hit. Later in the war the G4M2 variant was adapted to carry the piloted Ohka attack missile. The individual variants differed in engine power, defensive armament and the gradually introduced protection of crew and fuel system.
