Eduard CX086 mask set – canopy painting masks for the F-111 Aardvark model (Hasegawa) in 1:72 scale

Eduard CX086 is a set of self-adhesive 1:72 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the F-111 Aardvark model from Hasegawa. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark:

The General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark was an American twin-engine combat aircraft that entered service in 1967, the first production aircraft with variable-geometry wings. Its two-man crew sat side by side in a cockpit with a jettisonable escape capsule. Power came from two Pratt & Whitney TF30 turbofan engines. It was designed as a supersonic strike aircraft capable of low-altitude flight with terrain following by radar.

Originally planned as a joint aircraft for the Air Force and Navy, the naval version proved unsuccessful and it entered service only with the USAF, mainly as a tactical bomber. Reconnaissance, EF-111 electronic-warfare and strategic FB-111 variants were also produced. About 560 examples were built; the operators were the United States and Australia, which retired its aircraft in 2010.
