Eduard EX1024 mask set – canopy painting masks for the MiG-29K model (Hobby Boss) in 1:48 scale

Eduard EX1024 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the MiG-29K model from Hobby Boss. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – MiG-29K:

The MiG-29K is a carrier-based multirole variant of the MiG-29 fighter, adapted for operation from aircraft carriers. Compared with the land-based version, it received reinforced landing gear, an arrestor hook, folding wings and anti-corrosion protection for naval service. It is powered by two upgraded RD-33MK turbofan engines. The design is based on a heavier, refined airframe with increased fuel capacity.

The modern MiG-29K was developed from earlier carrier-variant work of the 1980s, aimed mainly at export and carrier operations. The aircraft is multirole, capable of air combat and of attacking surface and land targets with guided weapons. It exists in a single-seat K version and a two-seat KUB version, differing in the number of cockpit seats and their combat-training role.
