Eduard EX165 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the MiG-15bis model from Tamiya. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15:

The MiG-15 was the first successful Soviet swept-wing jet fighter, first flown in December 1947. The MiG-15bis version of 1950 received the more powerful Klimov VK-1 engine, a development of the licence-built Rolls-Royce Nene, along with improved controls and equipment. The aircraft gained fame during the Korean War, where clashes with American F-86 Sabres became a symbol of air combat in the early jet age.

It was one of the most widely produced jet fighters in history; with licence production, well over ten thousand were built. It was used by the USSR, China, Poland (Lim-2), Czechoslovakia (S-102/S-103) and dozens of other states. Versions included the two-seat MiG-15UTI trainer and reconnaissance variants.
