Eduard EX182 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the He 162A-2 Spatz model from Tamiya. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Heinkel He 162 Volksjager:

The Heinkel He 162 was a German single-engine jet fighter of the closing period of the Second World War, developed under a programme for cheap aircraft made from non-strategic materials. It was a high-wing machine of mixed construction, with a wooden wing and metal fuselage, and the engine mounted in a nacelle above the fuselage. The design was prepared in a very short time, and the first flight took place in December 1944.

Power came from a single BMW 003 turbojet, and armament consisted of two cannon. The aircraft had difficult handling characteristics that made it demanding to operate. Despite plans for mass production and pilot training, including of youths, the He 162 played no real combat role. Several hundred were built, most of which did not reach front-line service before the war ended.
