Description

Eduard EX964 mask set – canopy painting masks for the A-10C model (Academy) in 1:48 scale

Eduard EX964 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the A-10C model from Academy. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.

What's in the box:

  • Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper in the TFace version – separate masks for the exterior and interior of the glazing, plus wheel hub masks
  • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalogue number: EX964
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: A-10C from Academy
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks (TFace version)
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – A-10 Thunderbolt II:

The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin-engine close air support aircraft designed in the late 1960s and early 1970s to destroy tanks and ground targets. Survivability shaped the design: the pilot and flight controls sit within a titanium armour tub, and the engines are mounted high at the rear of the fuselage, away from the most common line of fire. The forward airframe was built around its internal cannon.

The aircraft entered service in 1977. Its primary weapon is the seven-barrel 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger cannon, supplemented by AGM-65 Maverick guided missiles and a wide range of ordnance on eleven hardpoints. The A-10 saw combat in the Gulf War (1991) and later conflicts; despite its age it remains in service thanks to its ability to loiter over the battlefield.

Original specifications (A-10 Thunderbolt II):

  • Crew: 1
  • Length: 16.3 m
  • Wingspan: 17.5 m
  • Height: 4.5 m
  • Empty weight: 11,320 kg
