Description
Eduard EX994 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Mi-17 model (Trumpeter) in 1:48 scale
Eduard EX994 is a set of self-adhesive 1:48 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Mi-17 model from Trumpeter. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included. The TFace version includes masks for both the exterior and interior of the glazing.
What's in the box:
- Sheet of self-adhesive masks made of yellow Kabuki masking paper in the TFace version – separate masks for the exterior and interior of the glazing, plus wheel hub masks
- Mask placement instructions
Set specifications:
- Scale: 1:48
- Catalogue number: EX994
- Manufacturer: Eduard
- Dedicated kit: Mi-17 from Trumpeter
- Accessory type: canopy painting masks (TFace version)
- Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut
Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges
Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.
The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.
About the aircraft – Mil Mi-8/Mi-17 (transport helicopter):
The Mi-8 is a Soviet multi-role transport helicopter developed by the Mil bureau in the 1960s as a successor to the piston-engined Mi-4. Unlike its predecessor, it is powered by two turboshaft engines mounted above the cabin, which increased performance and reliability. The cargo cabin holds troops or cargo, and clamshell doors are located at the rear of the fuselage. It is one of the most widely produced helicopters in the world.
It was developed into the Mi-17 family with more powerful engines and a tail rotor moved to the right side, adapted for more demanding conditions. Many versions were produced: transport, armed, rescue, medical and command variants. Armed versions carry unguided rocket pods, gun pods and guided missiles on side outriggers.
Original specifications (Mil Mi-8/Mi-17 (transport helicopter)):
- Fuselage length: 18.2 m
- Main rotor diameter: 21.3 m
- Height: 5.65 m
- Empty weight: approx. 7,260 kg
- Maximum weight: approx. 12,000-13,000 kg

- Maximum speed: approx. 250 km/h
- Ceiling: approx. 4,500-6,000 m
