Eduard JX196 mask set – canopy painting masks for the Me 262B-1 model (Revell) in 1:32 scale

Eduard JX196 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the Me 262B-1 model from Revell. The masks are die-cut from yellow Kabuki masking paper, giving sharp edges without hand masking with tape. The base kit is not included.

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Messerschmitt Me 262A Schwalbe:

The Messerschmitt Me 262 was the first mass-produced jet-powered fighter, first flown under turbojet power in 1942. It was a low-wing aircraft with swept wing leading edges, powered by two Junkers Jumo 004 engines mounted in nacelles beneath the wings. The A variant carried heavy cannon armament concentrated in the nose, making it an effective interceptor platform.

The Me 262 entered service in 1944, mainly as a fighter and bomber destroyer, and also in fighter-bomber versions. Its introduction was delayed by unreliable, short-lived engines and by decisions over its intended role. Despite its speed advantage over piston aircraft, limited numbers and fuel shortages constrained its impact on the war. About 1,400 aircraft were built.
