Eduard JX318 is a set of self-adhesive 1:32 masks for painting the canopy framing and other glazing, and the wheel hubs, tailored to the MC.202 Folgore model from Italeri. • Mask placement instructions

Set specifications:

  • Scale: 1:32
  • Catalogue number: JX318
  • Manufacturer: Eduard
  • Dedicated kit: MC.202 Folgore from Italeri
  • Accessory type: canopy painting masks
  • Material: yellow Kabuki masking paper, machine-cut

Self-adhesive painting masks – crisp canopy frame edges

Eduard masks are self-adhesive stencils die-cut from low-tack yellow Kabuki masking paper suited to delicate model surfaces. They cover the clear areas of the glazing and leave only the canopy framing exposed, so that after airbrushing you get sharp, even frame edges – hard to achieve when masking by hand with tape.

The recommended method is to apply the masks to clean, degreased glazing, press the edges down firmly and then airbrush the paint. Once the paint has dried, the masks are removed. The masks are intended for single use and should not be left on the model for a long time.

About the aircraft – Macchi MC.202 Folgore:

The Macchi MC.202 Folgore was an Italian single-engine fighter designed by Mario Castoldi, developed from the MC.200 Saetta by installing the inline Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, licence-built as the Alfa Romeo R.A.1000 RC.41. The aircraft first flew in 1940 and entered service with the Regia Aeronautica in 1941. The change of powerplant markedly improved performance over the MC.200, producing an agile and fast fighter with good handling qualities.

The Folgore fought in North Africa, over Malta, the Mediterranean, the Eastern Front and in the defence of Italy. Its main weakness was armament based on two 12.7 mm machine guns, optionally supplemented by two 7.7 mm in the wings, which was inadequate against well-armoured Allied aircraft. After the 1943 armistice it was used by both sides. Its direct successor was the MC.205 Veltro.
