The IBG 80001 kit represents the famous British Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb fighter aircraft in an early configuration used between 1941 and 1943. This version features the early cockpit windscreen with an external bulletproof panel mounted in front of the canopy.

The model is part of the IBG Models “80…” series, which provides the essential plastic components of the kit along with selected photo-etched details. These sets are designed for modelers who already have decals or who want to use aftermarket markings.

About the Supermarine Spitfire Mk V

The Supermarine Spitfire was one of the most important British fighter aircraft of World War II. Designed by R.J. Mitchell, the aircraft became famous for its distinctive elliptical wing and excellent flight performance.

The Mk V version entered service in 1941 and became one of the most widely produced variants of the Spitfire. Aircraft of this type operated over Europe and in many other theaters during the war.

The Spitfire Mk Vb was armed with 20 mm cannons and machine guns and served as the main RAF fighter during the early and mid-war years.
