The ICM 32014 kit depicts the Henschel Hs 123A-1, a German single-engine biplane attack aircraft used extensively by the Luftwaffe in the early years of World War II. Despite its seemingly outdated design, the Hs 123 proved to be a durable and effective ground-attack aircraft, serving with distinction during the campaigns in Poland, France and on the Eastern Front.

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:32
  • Manufacturer: ICM
  • Skill level: intermediate / advanced
  • Version: Hs 123A-1

About the kit:

The large 1:32 scale allows for a high level of detail, including a fully reproduced BMW 132Dc radial engine, detailed cockpit interior and armament. The surface features finely engraved panel lines and rivets. The kit includes multiple marking options for Luftwaffe aircraft operating in Poland (1939), France (1940) and the Soviet Union (1941–1942). The precision-molded parts make this a rewarding project for experienced modelers interested in early-war Luftwaffe aviation.

Recommended tools:

  • Model knife or sprue cutters
  • Files or sanding sticks
  • Brushes of various sizes
  • Plastic cement
  • Model paints in Luftwaffe camouflage colours (1939–1942)

About the Henschel Hs 123A-1:

The Henschel Hs 123 was one of the Luftwaffe’s first purpose-built ground-attack aircraft. Introduced in the mid-1930s, it was used successfully in the Spanish Civil War and early stages of World War II. The Hs 123A-1 variant was powered by a BMW 132Dc radial engine producing 880 hp, armed with two 7.92 mm MG 17 machine guns and capable of carrying up to 450 kg of bombs. Its sturdy airframe and ability to operate from rough airstrips made it a reliable asset, especially on the Eastern Front, where it was valued for its precision and durability in harsh conditions.

Original aircraft data:

  • Wingspan: 10.5 m
  • Length: 8.33 m
  • Height: 3.2 m
