Description

1:48 scale plastic model kit of the North American T-6G Texan training aircraft

Italeri 92652 reproduces the North American T-6G Texan—the G variant of the famous T-6 training aircraft, introducing numerous avionics and structural improvements over earlier versions. The T-6G was produced and modernized for the air forces of over 60 countries worldwide, serving as a literal “flight school” for tens of thousands of pilots from World War II through the 1970s The new decal sheet 2026 features 5 marking variants documenting the Texan’s service in various countries and eras.

The kit includes:

  • Plastic sprues with fuselage, wing, and equipment parts
  • Transparent sprues with tandem cockpit canopies
  • New water-slide decal sheet for 5 marking variants (2026)
  • Color assembly instructions with paint schemes

Model specifications:

  • Scale: 1:48
  • Catalog number: 92652
  • Manufacturer: Italeri (Italy)
  • Model length after assembly: approx. 190 mm
  • Model wingspan: approx. 267 mm
  • Difficulty level: beginner/intermediate

Note: The kit does not include glue, paints, or modeling tools. The model is intended for self-assembly.

Model construction:

A kit suitable for modelers of all skill levels. The tandem cockpit (2 seats one behind the other) requires painting and finishing before the fuselage is closed—this is one of the model’s most visually appealing features. The Pratt & Whitney radial engine with its characteristic NACA cowling can be finished with a chipping effect, imitating paint fading due to heat.

Typical T-6G paint schemes depend on the period and operator: yellow Basic Trainer (Yellow Wings) in service with the USAAF and US Navy in the 1940s ; natural silver aluminum for many post-war air forces; olive green or sand-brown camouflage for operational service in countries such as France, South Africa, and Morocco. The new 2026 decals cover 5 specific aircraft. p>

Essential tools:

  • Model-making pliers
  • Model-making knife or scalpel
  • Files and sandpaper
  • Plastic glue
  • Brushes of various sizes
  • Model paints
  • Clear coat for decals
  • Model wash for the engine and details

About the aircraft – North American T-6G Texan:

The North American T-6 Texan (known in RAF service as the Harvard) was a low-wing metal trainer with a tandem cockpit, powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-1340 Wasp engine with approximately 600 hp. Designed in the 1930s, it became the standard advanced trainer for the air forces of the United States, the United Kingdom, and many other countries during World War II. The T-6G version, produced and modernized from the 1940s through the 1950s, introduced improved avionics, wings with a new airfoil, and other enhancements.

The T-6 was a demanding aircraft for pilots—its narrow taxiing path and strong tendency to spin required mastery. It was precisely these characteristics that made it ideal for training pilots to fly combat fighters. The T-6 trained generations of pilots in over 60 countries and was actively used in combat during the Korean War and in many regional conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s as a light support aircraft.
