Mr.Hobby CV02 Velvet Blue – metallic paint with velvet-like shine

Mr.Hobby CV02 Velvet Blue is a special metallic hobby paint that shines like velvet. The appearance of the shine changes depending on the viewing angle, making it suitable for a wide range of purposes – from mechanical objects to realistic fabric effects such as raxa. The standard base colour is black, but using grey or white primer will produce a different visual result, allowing for creative finishing options.

Mr.Hobby C Series paints are top-quality acrylic paints based on organic solvents, offering perfect colour reproduction, richness, unmatched quality, and durable coating.

These paints have a strong smell due to the solvents used, which is why they are often mistakenly referred to as “nitrocellulose” paints. Unlike typical acrylic or vinyl paints, C Series paints do not clog airbrushes and are easy to clean from tools. When properly thinned, they are among the best paints for airbrushing. The full range includes over 220 colours for aircraft, armour, ships, and cars, developed to faithfully reproduce original shades and finishes – matte, semi-gloss, or gloss.

Brush painting - according to the manufacrurer - is possible, but our experience shows that it's very difficult and gives poor results. We don't recommend those paints for paintbrushing. If you don'r own an airbrush, we suggest that you use AK Interactive 3 Gen acrylics, Vallejo Model Color or Hataka from B(lue) line acrylic paints.

Before use, mix the paint thoroughly and thin it with Mr.Color Thinner (available in 50, 110, 250, and 400 ml bottles) or Mr.Color Leveling Thinner (available in 110 and 400 ml bottles). Using the retarder version makes painting easier and improves the final finish. Recommended thinning ratio is 1–1.5 parts paint to 3 parts thinner.

Mr.Color C Series paints are highly stable and, when stored in tightly sealed containers, can be kept for a long time. If they become too thick, Mr.Color Replenishing Agent can restore them to the correct consistency without loss of properties.

The paints are quick-drying, but depending on the amount and type of thinner used, they may require up to 24 hours for full curing on the model.

They are suitable for plastic models and miniatures, as well as metal and resin models. They can be applied directly to the surface, but we recommend priming beforehand for best results.
